I get a lot of enquires about e-commerce websites as a lot of my clients are small business owners usually starting out and trying to find a low cost way to set up a website and sell their products.
There are so many e-commerce options available today that I can understand how one can get confused or not even know where to start! a few strong contenders are:
shopify
big cartel
Wix
Each of these sites offer different pricing structures and plans. It’s really about finding an option that works for your budget as they all do pretty much the same thing.
Shopify is an expensive option for small business owners as they take a commission from each sale and have a high monthly premium you need to pay.
Big Cartel is perfect for the small business owner just starting out and offer a monthly premium of $10.
Be aware, PayPal also take a small chunk of your profits. Its about .3% of each sale but this adds up in the long run.
Wix will cost you an annual domain and website plan hosting fee but all sales are commission free.
Keep in mind. If you are not computer savvy. You may still need to hire a graphic designer to help you with the set up of these sites. A slap together using low res images and a bad template won’t look great and youay lose potential business from the get go.
A graphic designer like myself can help you set up a website using your preferred platform and make your site look professional for a fraction of the cost of hiring a web designer.
